Shane Warne sees âgreedâ behind Cricket Australiaâs decision to expand BBL

Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne has criticized Cricket Australiaâs decision to expand BBL and stated that expanding BBL would âdilute a wonderful productâ. He also has urged the board to cut down on its 'greed' and work out a way that would be best for Australian cricket going forward.

Warne has slammed Cricket Australia (CA) for its decision to increase the number of games in the Big Bash League. After staging an eight-round season plus finals for the previous five editions, CA added an extra two rounds making it 10 games per team for BBL7. The board is keen to eventually stretch out to a full home and away season and this would result in a 59-game tournament â up from the previous seasonâs 43 matches.Â
Warne took to Twitter to express his frustration as he hoped that the âgreedâ would get thrown out of the window. He feels the current format of the BBL is very good and tinkering with the format would be âdiluting a wonderful productâ.
Australian Cricket should be an equal partnership between the players & the board, then everyone would be on the same page, sure they wonât always agree - but if both parties attitude is - whatâs best for Australian Cricket & not themselves - then Cricket & the fans would b happy

Ps And hopefully greed would then be thrown out the door too ! For example - itâs ridiculous that the BBL will have a lot more games next season & beyond - Itâs a great comp & less is more should be the attitude - not letâs put more games on for $$ - diluting a wonderful product

Earlier this month, in a deal worth AUD 1.2 billion with CA, Channel Seven and Fox Sports won the broadcast rights to Australian cricket for the next six years.Â
Also earlier, CEO James Sutherland had revealed to ESPNCricinfo that the additional fixtures have been added to find the right balance and have a proper build-up to the tournament's climax properly.Â
