Sunil Gavaskar calls for âPink ballsâ in ODIs
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has called for the use of pink balls in limited overs cricket to make it competitive with the white ball giving ânothingâ for the bowlers.

âThe white ball does nothing for bowlers. I actually call it a 'nothing doing ball',â Gavaskar said, reported PTI.
In the first ODI at Perth between India and Australia, both teams registered totals above 300 with only eight wickets falling for the bowlers. Gavaskar added that, with the success of pink ball in Test cricket, it could be tried in ODIs to even out the contest between bat and ball.

However, Indian opener Rohit Sharma, who scored an unbeaten 171 in the first ODI, disagreed with Gavaskarâs view and said the white ball can be challenging in tough conditions.
âI donât agree that the white ball doesnât do anything. If you play in tough conditions it can be a nightmare for the batsmen. When you play with two new balls and conditions are against batsmen and it is overcast the ball tends to swing a bit,â Rohit said, reported PTI. Â
