Dinesh Karthik has played a key role for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL. Whether he was a player or a coach, he has shared a great bond with Virat Kohli. He recently participated in an interview, where he talked about his bond with the King and how he helped him in his tough times.

Today we are seeing Dinesh Karthik and Virat Kohli as the coach and player duo in the IPL. Karthik is the Mentor of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as he has stayed with the team ever since his retirement. Throughout his time with RCB, he has shared a good bond with the King of the game, Virat Kohli.

Whether it was the joy of qualifying to the IPL 2024 playoffs or the joy of winning the first IPL title in 2025, Karthik has been there with Kohli all the time. Recently, the RCB mentor talked about his relationship with Virat Kohli, and how it has grown over the last few years.

He said, “Virat has always been supportive. I made my comeback in 2017 when he was the captain,he was the one who called me up and said, 'You’re going to be here, you’re doing well'. I remember in 2013 as well, he told Basu sir, 'Dinesh is playing very well, he should be part of the Champions Trophy squad', even though he wasn’t the captain then. Again in 2022, he told the media that Dinesh is playing something special and should be part of India’s T20 World Cup team. Getting such an endorsement from a person like him means a lot.”

Our Take

Even though Dinesh Karthik has retired from the game, his bond with Virat Kohli still remains unaffected. He is still working with RCB as a mentor, and loved the joy when the team won its first ever IPL title last year. Karthik will be hoping to add another title this season.
