Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders played the first ever Super Over of IPL 2026 yesterday. While LSG almost pulled off the game, the team lost in the Super Over. Following the tie, Lalit Modi posted yet another controversial tweet for Sanjiv Goenka.

In the IPL, the players are fighting each other on the field to take the trophy. But off the field, there is another interesting clash which fans would not like to miss. And it is the battle of words between Lalit Modi and Sanjiv Goenka, which remains active when LSG is playing a match in the tournament.

This even happened yesterday, when Lucknow Super Giants took the game against Kolkata Knight Riders to a Super Over. While the match was already in their hands, Kartik Tyagi was able to take the wicket of Himmat Singh, which put the game towards KKR. When Shami smashed a six off the last ball, taking the game to a Super Over, Lalit Modi decided to take a dig.

And he took a dig at none other than his rival, Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of Lucknow Super Giants. He posted by saying, “This is only in the @IPL - super over between meme king @DrSanjivGoenka and my friend @iamsrk teams @KKRiders and @LucknowIPL”

Our Take

The battle between Lalit Modi and Sanjiv Goenka still remains one-sided. It is just Lalit Modi who is posting tweets against Sanjiv Goenka, while the owner of Lucknow Super Giants has not responded to any one of them. It remains to be seen whether Goenka will be replying to such tweets or not, and if this happens, the battle of words between these two would definitely be an epic one for the fans to witness.
