VIDEO | Darren Ganga predicts Jason Holder’s 100th Test wicket to perfection on air

While commentator’s jinx is often an overused term, Darren Ganga can take a pie of credit for Jason Holder’s 100th wicket as his prediction came true almost instantly. With Ganga educating Sunil Gavaskar about Holder’s possible achievement, Holder dismissed Hanuma Vihari to complete the formalities.

Commentator’s curse is an often misused term in cricket and when every single incident gets attributed to the commentator, it can seem irritating as well. However, at Sabina Park in Kingston, it turned out to be a curse for Vihari and a blessing for Holder in the truest sense.

With 99 Test wickets to his kitty and two consecutive fifer at the venue, Holder was looking at the opportunity of achieving the dual feat when he came to bowl the 141st over of India’s innings. With Ganga being on the air, he pulled off the statistics and was informing Sunil Gavaskar about the same as Holder was on his run-up.

As if Holder received some power because of that, he landed a full delivery around off and as the India No.6 went for a lofted shot, it actually hit the toe end of the bat. The edge was above the mid-off fielder and Roston Chase trekked back to complete a good catch. Talk about coincidences!
