Jhye Richardson replaces Aaron Hardie in Australia's National Performance Squad

22-year-old pacer Jhye Richardson has been included in Australia's National Performance Squad to tour India in August, as a part of his rehab from injury. After being in line to be one of Australia's key members in the World Cup, Richardson dislocated his shoulder in the ODI series against Pakistan in March, which subsequently ruled him out of both the World Cup and Ashes. 

He will be replacing fellow Western Australian Aaron Hardie in the squad, who famously claimed the wicket of Virat Kohli playing for CA XI in a warm-up match against India in 2018. The Australian squad is scheduled to arrive in India on August 10 and will play both 50-over and T20 matches against an MRF Academy team. Richardson is set for a stint in the MRF Pace academy which is driven by none other than the great Glenn McGrath.

"It is wonderful to have the quality of someone like Jhye on this tour. The tour affords Jhye the opportunity to further hone his skills in subcontinent conditions under the watchful eye of Glenn McGrath and (NPS Head Coach) Chris Rogers," Pathways Manager Graham Manou was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"It also provides an opportunity for the younger players to work alongside Jhye. It will present them with a unique perspective of what it takes to be an international player and the discipline required to bounce back from a significant injury," he added.
