Ishant Sharma and Suresh Raina, who were captaining Delhi and Uttar Pradesh respectively when a man drove into Palam ‘A’ ground with his car, took to Twitter to express their disappointment about the incident. The first-class match also had the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Rishab Pant, and Unmukt Chand.

A car barging into a cricket ground during a first-class match seemed far-fetched even for a Ranji Trophy game, where the turnout is generally low and fans expect to connect with players more. And the complacent security issue didn’t go down well with the players either, for obvious reasons.

After a game between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh was halted by a man driving into the ground with his car, who later claimed to have lost his way, skippers Ishant Sharma and Suresh Raina took to Twitter to express their discontent with the incident.

Ishant Sharma tried to find some humour in it. He wrote, “Drive intheater just progressed to #DriveIn match. Shocking scene in between #RanjiTrophy match today witnessed with @GautamGambhir.”

Delhi’s home game was shifted from the Feroz Shah Kotla to the Palam ground because of the first T20I between India and New Zealand being scheduled there. Though the man steered on the pitch quite a few times, it was later deemed fit to play by the match referee.
