IPL 2017 | Brendon McCullum ruled out with hamstring injury

Brendon McCullum has been ruled out of the remaining three matches of Gujarat Lions’ IPL 2017 campaign due to a hamstring strain. The Kiwi is the side's second highest run-getter behind Suresh Raina this season and sustained the injury during the match against Delhi Daredevils on Thursday.

McCullum's injury has come as another stumbling block for Gujarat, whose fit overseas players pool has further been reduced to just four - Dwayne Smith, Aaron Finch, James Faulkner and UAE's Chirag Suri.

All-rounder Dwayne Bravo and fast bowler Andrew Tye were ruled out earlier with injuries while England opener Jason Roy returned home to play in the bilateral series against Ireland.

McCullum confirmed the news through a tweet and cited "compressed tournament and long travel" as the reason behind the left hamstring injury.

Gujarat had previously lost the services of pacer Nathu Singh after he aggravated the back spasms that he sustained during the match against Kings XI Punjab on April 23.

Gujarat are already out of the race for a playoff spot, having won just three of their 11 matches.

RCB started the game well and managed to restrict KXI to a lowly total of 138. However, that did not stop the Twitterati from targeting Kedar Jadhav for his wicketkeeping blunders and Watson for his costly last over. RCB’s batting, as usual, collapsed and got the appropriate bashing on Twitter.
