Faf du Plessis : Australians will be mentally scarred by whitewash

Faf du Plessis has claimed that the Australian team would be mentally scarred by the 5-0 ODI whitewash that the Proteas inflicted on them. Faf, however, claimed that the Aussie Test squad is a more mature one and that they would have to start the Test series well to keep the momentum going.
"Beating Australia the way we did - really convincingly, not giving them a sniff - will leave a bit of a scar on them mentally. I appreciate it's test cricket, a different format," Du Plessis said as reported by Supersports.
"They will have a different team, probably a more mature team (than their ODI squad). So it's important to start well in that first test and remind them that we are in the same space as the one-day team," he added.
Australia, who suffered a 5-0 ODI whitewash for the first time in their illustrious history, will now welcome the African team to the land Down Under for another series that includes three Tests, one of them being a day/night game in Adelaide, with the first one starting on November 3.
Du Plessis will continue captaining the team in the absence of the mercurial AB de Villiers, who is still injured, for the Australian tour. The 32-year-old, however, paid grudging respect to Aussie seamer Mitchell Starc, who was rested for the ODI tour. The Australian has a great record in Tests picking up an incredible 115 wickets in just 28 Tests
"Starc is a huge bowler for them. We'll need to make sure we get good prep in with left-arm quicks. He's obviously someone who can crank it up and get it close to 150km/h and then obviously he's very good with reverse swing," Du Plessis said.
